Labels by design β how to ensure a fast and accurate printing process
Please read this page in conjunction with our general Specifications Guide
We use four main processes or methods for printing your work. Each of these print types requires slightly different set up parameters, so please use the information below as a general guide.
Contact us before you start the design process. We may be able to offer advice that will improve the finish of your work and save you time as well.
Once we have an understanding of what you are trying to achieve we will be able to discuss specific requirements with you.
Platform
We operate PCs rather than Macs.
Programmes
The main design programs we use are:
Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 & Corel Draw X3
File Types
Our strongly preferred format is a High Resolution PDF file. However, if you choose to send through a different file type, please supply files saved as native file types for the program [.ai or .cdr], or EPS files [encapsulated post script).
Please note we can sometimes be restricted as to how far we can prepare or manipulate PDF files for output (ie. - alterations, colour corrections or special trapping etc)
JPEG/Bitmaps can also be supplied but only for digital printing jobs & only if they are of a high enough resolution (see below for specs on digital printing.)
Delete all unnecessary layers that were used solely for the creative design process, and supply files flattened.
We do not recommend output from any programs such as WORD, POWERPOINT & EXCEL.
Digital Printing File Specs
When providing files (.JPEG .PSD etc.) for digital label printing please ensure the following:
- file is in CMYK format
- file is at finished size
- file resolution is 300dpi
- bleed has been added
File Transfer
We can accept files of up to 8MB via email. Do not apply any form of image compression.
Please send files to art@readlabel.com.au
Files larger than 8MB should be burnt to CD/DVD and sent to:
